The
Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer
Center is a member the of the National
Cancer Institute (NCI) designated Comprehensive
Cancer Center at Harvard, the nation’s
largest cancer research center. Other
members include, Harvard
Medical School, Harvard School of
Public Health, Beth Israel Deaconess
Hospital, Brigham
and Women’s Hospital, Children’s
Hospital Boston, and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Together
they receive the largest cancer research
dollars from the NCI.
Each year over 15,000 new adult and pediatric
cancer cases are treated with thousands
participating in cancer clinical trials.
These trials test many types of treatments,
such as new drugs, vaccines, new approaches
to surgery or radiation therapy, or new
combinations of existing treatments.
