About This Program
Advanced TreatmentsBone Marrow TransplantationThe Bone Marrow Transplant Program at Massachusetts General Hospital is world renowned for its clinical accomplishments, state-of-the-art technology and research endeavors. Our transplant specialists are dedicated to reducing transplant toxicities and to implementing novel strategies for performing HLA-mismatched transplants. As part of their pioneering work involving the induction of transplantation tolerance, they have performed the first combined bone marrow and kidney transplants for patients with multiple myeloma and renal failure.
Interventional RadiologyThe Interventional Spine Service at Massachusetts General Hospital is a recognized world leader in minimally invasive spine procedures. Multiple myeloma patients are a population that are prone to osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures, which results in significant morbidity or increase in fractures with increased discomfort. An example of a procedure used to provide pain relief is Vertebral Augmentation.
Our staff is focused on providing supportive care that suits the needs of our patients and their care providers, and is aimed at reducing pain and improving quality of life.
