BWH/Harvard Skin Disease Research Center The BWH Division of Dermatology Research Laboratories are located in the Harvard Institutes of Medicine facility, directly across the street from Harvard Medical School. This is the site of the Harvard Skin Disease Research Center (HSDRC) which was established in 1994 with funding from the National Institutes of Health.
The goal of the center is to harness the talents and strengths of a select group of investigators and consultants from throughout the Harvard Medical School and affiliated hospital community toward the understanding of the cellular, molecular, and genetic mechanisms of skin disease.
Institutions represented in the HSDRC include Harvard Medical School, Harvard School of Public Health, Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Children's Hospital Medical Center, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, the Center for Blood Research, the Shriner's Burn Institute and Massachusetts General Hospital.
Research strengths of the HSDRC investigators are diverse and fall into the general categories of immunology, inflammation and infectious disease, cell biology, cancer biology, and the ctyoskeleton. The mission of the HSDRC is to conduct research that will ultimately have a tangible impact on the care of patients with skin diseases.
