The MGH Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Practice, also known as the Genitourinary Infectious Disease (GID) Unit has been in existence for over 50 years. The GID /STD Practice provides screening and treatment of STDs. Services are provided in a confidential setting by a professional staff trained in the area of sexually transmitted infections. The service is affordable to all. Insurance is not required. EVERYONE IS WELCOME!

Sexually Transmitted Diseases Clinic Offers the Following Services

  • Evaluation and treatment for sexually transmitted infection including: chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, genital herpes infections (HSV), genital warts - Human papilloma virus (HPV), molluscum, scabies and vaginitis.
  • Hepatitis B vaccine.
  • Hepatitis A vaccine for people at high risk of acquiring this infection sexually.
  • Counseling and testing for the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)infection.
  • Information and literature regarding sexually transmitted diseases and safer sex practices.

Office Hours

Patients are seen on a walk-in basis during daytime office hours noted below. We are also open on Monday evenings from 5 to 7pm by appointment only. The clinic is closed on weekends and holidays.

It is necessary for all patients to obtain a Blue Card before being seen at the GID clinic. Please stop at Registration on the 1st floor of the ACC building next to the Pharmacy, before coming to the GID Unit on Cox 5.
