DF/HCC Request for Proposals: Pilot Project Developmental Funds to Support Interprogrammatic Research - "New Nodal Award"
The deadline for submission is June 1, 2007, 4:30pm. The anticipated award date is July 1, 2007.

A key goal of the DF/HCC is to encourage and support the development of collaborations between Center members that promote new translational cancer research as well as research that address issues relevant to the unequal burden of cancer and cancer outcomes in diverse populations. Therefore, the DF/HCC requests proposals for Pilot Projects that enhance or create new "nodal point" interactions between disease-based and discipline-based programs. These interactions provide an opportunity to link disparate research efforts within the Center and have the potential of giving rise to significant human application. The Center also seeks proposals for projects that further enhance the research in the area of "Eliminating Cancer Disparities". These inter-programmatic research efforts are the "nodal points" that are being targeted for support in this RFP.

NIH Loan Repayment Programs

NIH Loan Repayment Programs are a vital component of our nation's efforts to attract health professionals to careers in clinical, pediatric, health disparities, or contraception and infertility research.

In exchange for a two or three-year (for Intramural General Research) commitment to your research career, NIH will repay up to $35,000 per year of your qualified educational debt. In addition, the NIH will make corresponding Federal tax payments for credit to your Internal Revenue Service tax account at the rate of 39% of each loan repayment to cover your increased Federal taxes. The NIH may also reimburse any increased state or local taxes and/or additional increased Federal taxes (where the Federal tax payments were not sufficient to fully cover your increased Federal taxes) that you incur as a result of your LRP benefits
