Clinical Interests: |
Dr. Eichler has clinical interests in Leukodystrophies, Neurometabolic Diseases, Multiple Sclerosis. He is director of the Leukodystrophy Clinic, a regional referral center for children seeking evaluation and specialized care for leukodystrophies. Child neurologists specializing in leukodystrophies and related demyelinating disorders assess children with developmental delay, progressive weakness and spasticity and gait difficulties. We work closely with the Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis Center and provide multiple services through the MassGeneral Hospital for Children in Boston. |
Research Interests:
The primary focused upon X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy (X-ALD) and metachromatic leukodystrophy (MLD). Topics of research are the neuroimmunology of X-ALD as well as imaging the pathophysiology of X-ALD and MLD. We collaborate closely with the Day Laboratory for Neuromuscular Research and the Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging.
