Pediatric Stroke Services
A specialized team consisting of a pediatric stroke neurologist, pediatric radiologists, pediatric intensivists and a pediatric stroke nurse provide continuity of care, following a patient from an admission to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit to discharge. Our Cerebral Vascular Stroke Service cares for premature infants, children, or adolescents who have had a cerebral vascular stroke.

Acute stroke management
Strokes in neonates and infants
Neurocritical care and brain imaging evaluation of stroke and cervico-cranial vascular disorders including:
Arterial dissections
Vasculitis
Moya-moya
Coagulation and hematological diseases
Congenital or genetic causes of stroke
Cardiogenic source of embolism
Acute intraarterial thrombolysis management
For children who have had a hematological stroke, our Hematology Program, with specialized expertise in anemia's and bleeding/clotting disorders, provides inpatient and outpatient care and consultative services. If physical rehabilitation is indicated, pediatric rehabilitation specialists from Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital come to MassGeneral Hospital for Children to evaluate the patient.
