Bone Project

Bones are not only solid materials consisting of calcium. Tissue engineering bones will be designed for any reconstructive surgery, which requires viability and remodeling of bone. Now we are trying to make a vascularized bone for that purpose, using biodegradable polymers and mesenchymal stem cells established in our laboratory.

The cartilage project covers wide variety of applications, including not only the joint surface but also the ear and the trachea. The usage of chondrocytes pursue both repairing defected tissue and creating new tissue. We have been focusing on reconstruction of neo-organs using biodegradable polymers with cultured chondrocytes.
